Four-year-old British boy drowns on holiday in Costa Blanca, Spain

A British boy has drowned after falling into a swimming pool soon after his family arrived on holiday in Spain.

It is reported that the boy had passed away before emergency services arrived at the scene in Torrevieja on the Costa Blanca, on Wednesday night.

The child, along with his parents, had just recently began his vacation at the resort.

Following the tragedy, a Foreign Office spokesman said:

“Following the death of a British national in Spain, we are providing support to their family. Our thoughts are with them at this difficult time.”

Investigations have now been launched into what happened, and a post mortem examination was expected to take place today.
