China hijacked bus crash: five people were killed and 22 others injured.

At least five people were killed and 22 others injured after a hijacked bus in eastern China’s Fujian Province crashed into pedestrians on the street Tuesday afternoon, local authorities said.

The incident occurred around 3:20 p.m. in the city proper of Longyan. The 22 injured, including one with serious injuries, have been taken to local hospitals for treatment, according to the city government.

The initial police investigation shows that they suspect it is a criminal case.

Police cordoned two streets on the scene in Xinluo District. A witness told Xinhua that the suspect hijacked the bus and intentionally tried to crash into pedestrians for 300 to 400 meters.

The suspect is in police custody and rescue work is underway.
