Ex-Texas mayoral candidate brags about ‘patriots’ breaking into Pelosi’s workplace – Thebritishjournal

A one-time mayoral candidate from Texas shamelessly bragged about “patriots” breaking into House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s office and stealing her gavel during the riots on Wednesday.

Jenny Cudd, of Midland, Texas, posted a 25-minute video on her Facebook saying that she and others decided to “storm the Capitol” after learning that Vice President Mike Pence “betrayed us.”

“I want to let you know what actually happened today,” Cudd says, with a Trump flag tied around her shoulders. “He had way more power and he wasn’t willing to exercise it.”

She continues with a laugh, “We didn’t vandalize anything but we did, as I say that, we did break down Nancy Pelosi’s office door and someone stole her gavel and took a picture sitting in the chair flipping off the camera, and that was on Fox News.”

Cudd adds, “Patriots got down on the floor and sitting in the House members’ and the Senators’ chairs.”

She referred to the mob of pro-Trump rioters as a “bunch of red-blooded American patriots that actually give a s–t about our country and keeping it.”

Early on in her video, Cudd tears up as she says, “My heart breaks for my country.”

In a photo, Cudd can be seen among dozens of other flag-waving protesters walking around the Capitol Rotunda holding her phone in front of her face.

Cudd ran for mayor of Midland in 2019, losing to Patrick Payton but gaining 15.6 percent of the vote, according to the Midland Reporter-Telegram.

The outlet described her as having participated in protests against business closures and mask mandates due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Cudd denied doing anything unlawful Wednesday when reached by the Reporter-Telegram. She also claimed that Antifa members broke through police barriers and assaulted officers before she arrived on Capitol grounds.

Cudd she she took pictures in the rotunda for 15 minutes before leaving.

Asked about Cudd’s involvement in Wednesday’s riots, Payton told the outlet, “It saddens me. And that’s just as far as I’m willing to comment on that. It saddens me.”
