The collapse of a building housing a restaurant in China on Saturday left 29 people dead, as search operations in the rubble ended on Sunday morning.
The tragedy took place in the morning in Xiangfen, northern Shanxi province, as an octogenarian's birthday was being celebrated in the restaurant, according to the New China Agency, which cited the authorities.
A total of 57 people were lifted from the rubble of the Juxian restaurant, including dozens of injured. Seven people are seriously injured, according to New China, which says their lives are not in danger.
The public channel CGTN said that the search, which had mobilized 700 people, had ceased Sunday morning.
The building had two levels, a ground floor and a second floor. He appears in Chinese media images totally gutted, with entire sections of walls collapsed in the middle of the old dining room.
The cause of the collapse was not immediately known.
