Grab your snorkel, because we’re headed to Bikini Bottom. We’ve got the first look at a new clip from Kamp Koral: SpongeBob’s Under Years, the animated SpongeBob SquarePants spinoff premiering on Paramount+ — currently known as CBS All Access — later this year. In the first episode, a series premiere titled “The Jellyfish Kid,” SpongeBob and his new friends find themselves in Jelly Meadows, ready to learn a new activity led by the always grumpy Squidward.
Of course, SpongeBob can’t contain his excitement, and he blurts out his catchphrase, “I’m ready!” almost immediately. While he’s ready to spring into action at any minute, the enthusiastic sponge is sent to camp director Mr. Krabs’ office when a phone call from his mom delays the day’s activity. Much to SpongeBob’s disappointment, he’s sent in the opposite direction to answer the phone while his fellow campers run into the jellyfish field.
“Hi mom, I love you but I’m a little busy here,” he tells her, phone in one hand and fishing net in the other. The call takes SpongeBob all over camp, where he jumps across a table, down a dock, into a canoe and through the sky, all attempting to net his very first jellyfish. He eventually lands right back in the meadow where he began, only to find that he’s practically caught the whole camp in the phone cord, but hasn’t managed to get one single jelly.
Thankfully, he’s got plenty of good friends around him to help out. Thanks to Patrick, who easily grabs one of the slippery sea creatures in his fist, SpongeBob just might see his jellyfishing dreams come true after all.
The SpongeBob spinoff features all of the same talent from the original series, including Tom Kenny (SpongeBob), Bill Fagerbakke (Patrick), Rodger Bumpass (Squidward), Clancy Brown (Mr. Krabs), Carolyn Lawrence (Sandy) and Mr. Lawrence (Plankton). Kamp Koral also features two new additions, Carlos Alazraqui and Kate Higgins, who voices the narwhal siblings Nobby and Narlene, who live in the woods around Kamp Koral.
Kamp Koral, the first-ever SpongeBob spin-off series, comes from producer Nickelodeon Animation Studio and will debut exclusively on the Paramount+ streaming service this year. Kamp Koral will also air on Nickelodeon later this year. Watch the full Kamp Koral preview clip in the video above.
