Stephen Colletti wasn’t prepared for the onslaught of attention he faced when ex-girlfriend Kristin Cavallari posed for an Instagram photo with him over the summer.
“It was definitely a bit of a shock there,” Colletti, 34, told Page Six via Zoom on Monday.
The “Laguna Beach” alum — who is currently starring in “Everyone Is Doing Great” alongside James Lafferty and Alexandra Park — added, “It was nice to see that it was received in a positive way … People look back on a show that was out a long time ago and have some fond memories of watching it with their friends and maybe can relate to some high school relationships that they had.”
But, he admitted, “My phone had to be turned off for the day.”
Cavallari, 34 posted the photo in August amid her divorce from Jay Cutler. A couple of months later she admitted she knew it would make some headlines.
“I knew it was going to create a little commotion, I didn’t know to what degree,” Cavallari said on the “On The List with Brett Gursky” podcast.
“That’s my most-liked photo on Instagram ever. More than my kids. More than anything in my life. That photo with Stephen,” she continued. “I mean, I think it’s really neat that people are still so invested and it really takes people back to that time.”
“Everyone Is Doing Great” is out on Hulu on Jan. 13.
