The Workplace tops Netflix and Disney originals as most-streamed present of 2020 – Thebritishjournal

According to Nielsen data, via Deadline, 14 of the 15 most streamed shows last year were available on Netflix in 2020.

Nielsen’s year-end summary takes into account the ever-growing line up of streaming services. Still, with the exception of Disney Plus’ The Mandalorian, all of the shows in the top 15 were on Netflix in 2020. For more context, Nielsen numbers only take into account shows viewed through TV screens in the United States. If Friends on HBO Max racked up billions of views via the service’s mobile app, we simply do not know.

Perhaps it’s no surprise that the always popular The Office topped the list. The show was on Netflix through last year, but in 2021 jumped to NBC’s new service Peacock. Out of the remaining shows, four Netflix originals make the list: Ozark, Lucifer, The Crown, and Tiger King. The full list is as follows:

  1. The Office (57.1 billion)
  2. Grey’s Anatomy (39.4 billion)
  3. Criminal Minds (35.4 billion)
  4. Ozark (30.5 billion)
  5. NCIS (28.1 billion)
  6. Schitt’s Creek (23.8 billion)
  7. Supernatural (20.3 billion)
